Minnesota Sesquicentennial Booth at the Winter Carnival

Celebrate Minnesota's 150 Years of Statehood by visiting the Minnesota Sesquicentennial Booth at the Winter Carnival in the Landmark Cortile!

Author Signing

Wednesday, January 23rd 5p.m. - 7p.m.

Doug Hooverson author of Land of Amber Waters: The HIstory of Brewing in Minnesota will be in the Sesquicentennial booth sharing photos and stories from his book as well as signing copies. The University of Minnesota Press will be on hand with copies available to purchase for $39.95.

Thursday January 24th 5p.m. - 8p.m.

Steve Keillor very recently published a book (it came out December 4th), Shaping Minnesota's Identity, 150 Years of State History, is available in both hardcover and paperback. Hardcover copies will be for sale for $25, paperback copies for $19.

Thursday January 31 5p.m. - 8p.m.

John Diers and Aaron Isaacs, coauthors of Twin Cities by Trolley will be in the booth signing copies of their book. They also plan to bring 9 poster-sized photos taken from the book. The University of Minnesota Press will be on hand with copies of Twin Cities by Trolley to purchase.

Kids' Activities

Saturday, January 26 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Minnesota Sesquicentennial Coloring Contest
Each hour, kids 12 and under at the Sesquicentennial booth will be given 5 minutes to color in a one page from the DNR's Minnesota symbols coloring book. Then the offficial Sesquicentennial judge will choose a winner.

Sunday, January 27 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.

Minnesota Sesquicentennial Mosaic Making
In honor of Minnesota’s Sesquicentennial, artist Susan Warner will be leading the creation of a mosaic based on the MN 150 medallion in the Landmark Cortile. The public is welcome to help her choose and place tiles. When finished, we’ll have a beautiful piece of art to commemorate the Sesquicentennial and the 2008 Winter Carnival.
