Landmark Center was built in 1902 and
originally served as the Federal Court House and Post office for the
Upper Midwest. In the 1970s, a group of determined citizens saved the
building from the wrecking ball, restored it to its previous
grandeur
and reopened to the public as Landmark Center in 1978.
Today, Landmark
Center serves as a cultural center and is ground central for the 2008 Winter Carnival, Jan 23rd - Feb 2nd.
The ground floor atrium or Cortile will host a variety of programs and activities for the run of the Winter Carnival:
From the Teddy Bear Band to the Hula Hoops and Coloring Contest, we have all kinds of Kids Activities planned. Check them out!
We have stuff for the big kids, too! Visit the Blue Green Travel booth for some vacation ideas or the Renassaince Exteriors booth for a bathroom make over - check out their prize offering in the Button Booklet.
Learn about changes Minnesota will experience, what our future weather
could look like and how it relates to global warming, ecology and
meteorology at the Science and Weather booth.
Get a bite to eat and enjoy Tater Tot Casserole, Captain Ken's Chile or Wild Rice Soup.
Walk through the World Skating Museum and Hall of Fame Exhibit located in the Hamm Foyer or enjoy the Winter Carnival Memorabilia Exhibit on the third floor.
Celebrate Minnesota's 150 years of Statehood by visiting the Minnesota Sesquicentennial Booth.
And, don't forget the Bouncing Team Tryouts!
Fun for the Whole Family!
